Dedicated Multiplayer Rules
The new multiplayer section of the rules explains how to play the game with players each having their own witch and prompt sheet sets.
While you can play around a table or on a video call, what I’m really proud of is the rules for asynchronous play over a messenger app, like Discord. This can be a really unique solution for These Times We Are Living In, where it’s hard to get people around the same table or on the same call at the same time. While playtesting it, I really enjoyed the levels of collaboration it encourages while still letting each player create their own story and experiences. If you’re looking for a game you can play a little of each day over a period of time, I really hope you’ll give it a shot! There’s a lengthy example of how it plays in the rules.
The way multiplayer mode works requires me to make completely new prompt sheet sets, which means...writing 240 new prompts for each player. It’s launching with two (the existing default set and the new mentor set), with a third (the student set) on the way. This means that the mode is currently best with two players, but there’s nothing stopping you from playing with more players using the same prompt sets!
The Mentor Prompt Sheet Set
Introduced for multiplayer, the Mentor Prompt Sheet Set is used for playing a more experienced witch with more responsibilities. It’s meant for the multiplayer mode, but can be played solo as well. The prompts are a little more adventurous than the default set and can lead to more harrowing or dangerous situations.
Power Tables
These are two tables you can now use when adding Powers. They’re completely optional, but I hope they’ll be helpful if you need some inspiration coming up with Power effects or limitations!
Safety Rules
I’ve added safety rules to help facilitate play and set expectations in both solo and multiplayer.
Thank You
I want to do a few shoutouts:
Tim Hutchings was very kind and generous when I reached out about using his TYOV system. If you haven’t checked out TYOV or his other games, you absolutely should: thousandyearoldvampire.com
Wren Hawthorne was a pleasure to work with on the art for this game and I highly recommend you work with them too. You can contact them and see if they’re taking commissions here: https://wrendorphin.carrd.co/
Taylor did a great actual play of the game, and streams a bunch of one-shot ttrpgs and video games. Check out her Twitch channel here: https://www.twitch.tv/rollforfelicity/
And thank you to everyone else who supported and bought the game. It really means a lot.
Keep on witching,
Sky
